เนื่องจากปัญหาอุทกภัยและภัยแล้งส่งผลกระทบโดยตรงต่อประชาชน ภาคเกษตร ภาคธุรกิจ การท่องเที่ยว และเศรษฐกิจโดยรวมของประเทศ\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>ทั้งนี้ ที่ประชุมได้พิจารณาข้อเสนอของคณะกรรมการร่วมภาคเอกชน 3 สถาบัน หรือ กกร. จังหวัดสงขลา ในการเตรียมความพร้อมและป้องกันปัญหาอุทกภัยในพื้นที่อำเภอหาดใหญ่ ซึ่งเป็นศูนย์กลางเศรษฐกิจ การค้า การท่องเที่ยว และโลจิสติกส์ของภาคใต้ Secretary-General, attended the second meeting of the Joint Public-Private Consultative Committee on Economic Problems (JPPCC) for 2026 at Santi Maitree Building, Government House.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>The special session focused on strengthening preparedness, prevention, and response measures for flood management in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, with the participation of Cabinet members, senior government officials, the Bank of Thailand, and representatives from the private sector.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government's commitment to an integrated water management strategy, emphasizing the use of data-driven decision-making and advanced technologies to ensure timely and effective implementation of flood prevention measures. He noted that both floods and droughts continue to have significant impacts on communities, agriculture, businesses, tourism, and the overall Thailand economy.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>During the meeting, members considered proposals submitted by the Songkhla Provincial Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB) to enhance flood preparedness in Hat Yai District—one of Southern Thailand's most important economic, commercial, tourism, and logistics hubs, as well as a strategic gateway for Thailand–Malaysia border trade.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>The private sector proposed that the Government allocate an emergency central budget to implement nine priority projects aimed at strengthening the region's integrated water management system. The proposed initiatives cover upstream, midstream, and downstream water management, including canal dredging and drainage improvements, installation of automated floodgate systems, procurement of water pumps and flood response equipment, and construction of drainage infrastructure in high-risk areas. All projects are intended to be completed before the onset of the monsoon season.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>These initiatives are designed to enhance water storage and drainage efficiency, mitigate flood risks in key economic zones, safeguard businesses, communities, and critical infrastructure, and maintain the continuity of logistics networks and cross-border trade.
